Shyla
We adopted Shyla as a puppy. She was quite scared and fearful from her first home, and hid under the bed for the first week. Since then, we’ve done our best to love and train Shyla. She’s made incredible progress but still has a lot of fear. A year and a half ago she developed a cyst on her spinal column that paralyzed her lower half. With great vet care, she’s made a great recovery and can walk, hike with us, and even run a little. We got a puppy in hopes it might bring out Shylas playful side. They’re friends now but it was definitely a hard road. Shyla is also fairly defensive and will snip and people she doesn’t know who reach for her. As we think about having kids, we’re worried a baby might get into her space and get bitten. She has an incredibly sweet soul, loves to walk, and is very affectionate with people she’s let into her circle. She would not be a good match for someone with kids, other dogs, or who loves to entertain lots of guests
