Teddy
Teddy is a big lover. He is super smart, he knows sit, paw, roll over, spin, heel, lay down, up, settle, off, in the crate, come, back up, and weave. He's super treat motivated and it doesn't take him long to learn new tricks. He's affectionate and loves to lean on his favorite people whenever he can. He has never had an issue with potty indoors, and whines when he needs to go out. He is high energy, and, unfortunately highly reactive to other dogs and certain strangers. We have done our best to train him using specialized bite toys, treats, prong collars, and dominant dog collars. He is miles ahead of where he was when we first got him, but sadly we have come to the decision that he should be rehomed with someone who can better attend to his athleticism, curiosity, and need for mental stimulation. Our apartment living situation is less than ideal for his type of energy as well. He has a high demand for tug and playtime even with training to settle. We feel that he would do best on a farm, or a large piece of land. He would be fantastic with someone who is outside and active a lot. He needs a home where he can be trained to have a real dog job, like guarding the perimeter, or sniffing out the latest catch. He definitely needs someone who can interact with him intensely on a day to day basis and someone who can handle his level of reactivity. When he is reactive it is with full on growling, lunging, and sometimes escalating to redirected aggression if he goes over threshold too much (we limit his interaction with other stranger dogs as much as possible). He has never had a bite incident, or attacked other dogs. He lives with another dog right now and it took some time to teach him to be gentle and respect her space. They live peacefully and never had a fight. Given patience and the right training and life style we feel Teddy would be a fantastic dog brother and human companion with a friend that can match his energy.
